It's now September 2025, and we've been very busy this summer. While most of what we've accomplished is invisible to the user, we've made crucial backend improvements. We have scaffolded and upgraded our data aggregators, which as a result, allows us to process more data on both a daily and weekly basis. A tremendous amount of human resources is involved in aggregating and cleaning data, and although we aren't perfect, every piece of information we can bring to our users is critical.
Here's what we've accomplished in the last four months:
- Enhanced Crawlers: Our systems can now source and index extremely rare parts.
- Upgraded Page Templates: We've created new templates for our Product, Category, and Sub-Category pages.
- Powerful Data Tables: Our data tables have been upgraded to be fully searchable and capable of handling massive datasets.
Our main focus now is to populate our system with millions of auto parts. Our aim is to hit one million this fall, so we have to get moving. We estimate there are about 500 million auto parts in yards across America, and we are determined to have at least 35% of those indexed on our network—that means somewhere near 120 million parts listed with us. It's a huge goal, and we are determined to get underway, with at least 30% of those listings updating daily.
We still have quite a bit of cosmetic work to do, such as finishing touch-ups on all desktop device sizes. At some point, we will upgrade the entire UX/UI, but we are still in a beta mode. This means we need to refine the home page, add more image-based category navigation, and update images that don't map to our new, content-rich categories. We also need to implement a mobile-friendly data table to empower our users in the field with powerful auto part data that is easy to view, helping them make decisions on the go.
So What Did We Upgrade With The DataTable?
We've also managed to upgrade to a fully responsive data table, which will now be fluid in its ability to expand between different desktop layouts. For example, the data table will shrink to remain readable on small desktop viewports (like laptops operating between 1100px and 1499px).
Second, we have implemented an agile search feature that enables multi-string searches. What exactly is a multi-string search? It's common for data tables to only be "filterable," not truly searchable. This means that as you type each word, such as "1995 Honda...", you might not get any results. Why? Because a simple filter is just matching the beginning of the text in a column. As soon as you type "1995," that is where its pattern-matching might stop.
Our engine is different. It searches across a robust data API, not the data directly visible in the table. By using dynamic requests (think AJAX, which prevents page refreshes), we can provide agile data manipulation on the fly. Incredibly, the data table is doing this across 500,000 auto parts, which is a huge technical feat. We can confidently say we are one of the only OEM auto part marketplaces that brings this level of intelligence to our users' fingertips.
Looking Ahead: 1 Million OEM Auto Parts
Over the past several months, we've been working hard—thinking, testing, and coding. The result is a much more navigable web application, as the majority of our auto part categories are now fully functional on desktop devices.
Now, we are returning our focus to cosmetic upgrades and enhancing the responsiveness of our designs. We are refactoring our CSS code to better use flexbox principles, which will eliminate the UI/UX inconsistencies that can look a bit off on certain screen sizes.
While our mobile site is currently powered mainly by search, we are determined to bring the data table to life for mobile users. This will enable fast auto part lookups for our users who aren't near a laptop. This will be a major feature addition, and we are working on the core design throughout September 2025.
Our primary goal is to continue expanding the auto part listings for the most common domestic and foreign vehicles. This is an ongoing effort, and we are sprinting towards our goal of
1 Million Auto Parts by the end of the fall 2025 season to become a major player in the market.
